2012 Nebraska Teacher of the Year on Public Libraries (video)

Omaha Public Library recently sat down with Liberty Elementary School kindergarten teacher, and 2012 Nebraska Teacher of the Year, Luisa Palomo. Among the topics highlighted: children, schools and libraries.

In this video, Palomo describes her summer school students’ excitement in venturing to W. Dale Clark Main Library, 215 S. 15th St, during OPL’s annual Summer Reading Program. She also discusses the power of reading and literacy, and the importance of establishing a strong community connection.

“The connection between public libraries and schools is priceless,” states Palomo. She goes on to say that the Library is “a place that families can go for a fun afternoon, to do something together… for free.”

Thank you to Luisa Palomo, for taking the time to speak with OPL; we appreciate your support.
