Take a Page – Patty Coyle

Every other week we share what our patrons are reading with the Omaha World-Herald. This week, A.V. Sorensen Branch patron Patty Coyle shares five of her favorite reads:
Patty Coyle
  1. The Shadow of the Wind” by Carlos Ruiz Zafón. I have read this twice. It has the best location for a story to begin…..The Cemetery of Lost Books. A fascinating story and wonderful characters.
  2. Year of Wonders” by Geraldine Brooks. An historical fiction novel that recounts the year in an English village that is dealing with the plague. Thought provoking and a great ending.
  3. Shutter Island” by Dennis Lehane. Let’s see… We have two characters on a boat, heading to an island for the criminally insane with a hurricane approaching. Has to be exciting, right?
  4. In Defense of Food” by Michael Pollan. One of my book clubs selected this to read and it literally changed my way of buying, cooking and eating food. My family is tired of me talking about this book but we are all healthier.
  5. Still Life” by Louise Penny. This author has written more books in this series that takes place in Canada. To just call them mysteries is not enough. You will love the settings, the plots and most of all the writing.
